On February 11th, 27 Year 9 students visited Bletchley Park, the historic home of the code-breakers.
The trip was designed to spark interest in GCSE Computer Science while offering a fascinating glimpse into a key moment in British history.
During the visit, students discovered the importance of Bletchley Park in the history of computing and code-breaking, particularly the ground-breaking work done there during World War II. They learnt how Alan Turing and his colleagues played a pivotal role in shaping computing and cryptography.
The visit consisted of a guided tour and an hour’s security lecture. There were opportunities for the students to explore Bletchley Park stories through immersive films, interactive displays, museum collections and faithfully recreated WW2 rooms.
Many thanks to Mr Futcher who accompanied Mr Sains and myself.
