Physical Wellbeing

Physical wellbeing refers to a young person’s overall health and ability to carry out daily activities comfortably, supported by healthy lifestyle choices such as regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and access to healthcare when needed. The UK Government highlights the importance of physical activity in maintaining and improving physical health, wellbeing, and fitness across all ages. (gov.uk) For young people, physical wellbeing is closely linked to both physical and emotional development, yet it can be affected by a range of factors including sedentary behaviour, poor sleep routines, stress, unhealthy eating habits, and limited access to exercise or outdoor activity. These issues may contribute to fatigue, reduced concentration, low mood, and decreased engagement in school life. Supporting children to develop healthy habits and a balanced lifestyle is essential in promoting their overall wellbeing, resilience, and ability to thrive both academically and socially.
