EDUCATION SUNDAY 2026

On Education Sunday, we give thanks for the gift of Catholic education and for everyone who makes our De La Salle community so special.

At De La Salle School, Basildon, we are proud to continue the mission of St John Baptist de La Salle: providing an education rooted in faith, recognising the dignity and God-given potential of every young person, and helping them to become the very best version of themselves.

As our Lay Chaplain, Doug Mongan, reminds us, education is about far more than examination results. It is about forming the whole person — helping our young people to grow in faith, knowledge, compassion, confidence and service to others.

On Education Sunday we give thanks for our wonderful students, dedicated staff, supportive families, governors, local clergy and parish communities. Together, we continue to build a school where every young person can feel known, valued, challenged and supported — and sent out to make a difference.

Please keep all those involved in Catholic education, and especially the young people entrusted to our care, in your prayers today.
