House Saints

At De La Salle, our House Saints are an important part of our Catholic and Lasallian identity. They give each House a distinctive character and provide students with inspiring examples of faith, courage, service and hope.

Our new House Saints were introduced in January 2026, giving each House a renewed identity rooted in values that reflect our school mission.

Why House Saints Matter

Saints were real people who faced challenges, uncertainty, rejection, pressure and difficult choices. Although some lived many centuries ago and others in more modern times, their stories still have relevance for young people today.

Their lives remind us that holiness is not about being perfect. It is about trying to live with love, purpose, compassion and faith, and choosing to use our gifts for the good of others.

Our House Saints show qualities that we want our students to develop, including:

• kindness and compassion
• service to others
• leadership
• perseverance
• standing up for what is right
• using talents and gifts well

Inspiring Our Students

Throughout the school year, students learn more about their House Saint, their life, their faith and the challenges they face.

Through assemblies, Collective Worship, House activities, charitable work and celebrations, students are encouraged to think about what they can learn from their saint and how they can live out the same values in their own lives.

This might mean showing kindness to someone who is struggling, persevering when something is difficult, standing up for another person, serving the community or using their talents to help others.

House Identity and Belonging

Our House Saints also help to build a strong sense of belonging.

Students across different year groups are united by a shared saint, shared values and a shared House identity. House activities provide opportunities for students to work together, celebrate achievement, support charitable causes and contribute positively to school life.

House identity is therefore about more than competition. It is about community, participation, service and belonging.
